Land Purchase
1893
In 1893, Mathias purchased some land from the government in Ashland County, Wisconsin. According to the document, he purchased land in the “southeast quarter of Section 18 in Township 46 north of Range 4 west of the 4th Principal Meridian in Wisconsin containing 160 acres.”
I’ve done the math and this translates to a 160 acre plot just south of the city of Ashland. I even mapped it out using Google Maps and saved it to my personal map collection.
